Frequently
Asked Questions ( FAQ )
|
Once JAM Service is launched on
BSNL mobile network, it is possible that many subscribers may call up BSNL’s
Customer Service Call Centre to know more about JAM and how it works.
To be able to answer the
questions of subscribes, your Call Centre Agents would need to be familiar
with the working of JAM.
Enclosed find a booklet
containing frequently asked questions and of course, answers - which would enable BSNL to provide
clarifications to subscriber’s questions.
These questions – and answers –
are also available online on our website

Payments / Billing |
|||
JAM service will be made
available to all subscribers of BSNL – whether PREPAID or POSTPAID.
BSNL will fix the rate ( tariff
) for
è Job
Alert SMS ( PUSH ) – ( MT)
è “Apply
online” SMS ( MO ) ( NO content is PULLED )
These rates will be displayed on
our website on page :
What
Do You Pay for This Service ?
A subscriber’s registration ( on
our website ) is not accepted, unless, at the end of the form, he accepts “tariff”, by clicking,
I
agree to pay Mobile Service Provider the charges for JAM Value Added Service.
Even thereafter, JAM service
does not start automatically.
To activate JAM, the subscriber
concerned MUST send to BSNL, an AUTHORISATION SMS, as follows:
JAM SUB on 2580
Only when such an authorization
SMS ( originating from the handset of
the “registered” subscribers ) gets
verified by BSNL and gets further forwarded to our server, we will start the
JAM service to that subscribers.

Enclosed find a chart explaining
the applicability of “specific eligibility conditions”
( viz: minimum turnover ) to various,
SMS

as JAM SUB < short code of service Provider.

Ø Anticipated
Traffic
Since
·
Delivery of job alert on mobile
·
Being able to “apply online” from mobile
Is a radically new concept, it
will take some time for traffic to build-up.
City-based jobseekers have access
to PC/Internet and are comfortable searching for jobs on jobsites. They will
be slow to change over to JAM.
Ultimately they will.
On the other hand, jobseekers in
small/medium towns ( > 5000 ), have nil/poor access to job-related
information. But, with rapid spread of mobile phones ( costing Rs. 1000/- or
less ), we can expect that they will
take to the JAM alternative in a big way ( currently they have no alternative ).
JAM will bridge the info-chasm
for them, as far as job-related information is concerned. JAM will provide
them with a ‘level-playing field” and enable them to participate in the
growing job-market.
Ø Revenue
Projections
JAM is unlike a NEW product in an EXISTING
market, hence it is difficult to make any sensible revenue projections.
JAM is trying to create an
altogether NEW MARKET – where, it happens to be the very first product of its
kind.
Online jobsearch ( on existing
jobsites ) is free for jobseekers. Even “Apply Online” is free. But, to be
able to use these online facilities, one needs Pc/Internet/plenty of time (
with associated cost of internet connection).
Currently online recruitment
market is about Rs. 300 crores/year,
with Monster India and Naukri,, each accounting for approx. Rs. 90-100
crores. These revenues are almost entirely derived from corporate
subscribers. We could expect to reach their levels in 3 / 5 years.
